This Privacy Policy explains how CodeHill LLC ("CodeHill," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you use StatsDen, including its website, accounts, domain-analysis tools, and any related services (collectively, the "Service").

Information We Collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect your username, email address, and an encrypted representation of your password. We may also collect account preferences and subscription information.

Contact and support information

When you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, subject, message, and any other information you choose to provide.

Domain searches and technical results

We process the domain names and hostnames you submit and the technical results returned by DNS, RDAP, WHOIS, HTTP, and TLS services. We may cache lookup inputs and results for a few hours to reduce repeated requests to third-party services. We may retain publicly available RDAP registration records separately to maintain and improve the Service. Neither the lookup cache nor retained public RDAP records are linked to your account or IP address.

Device, log, and usage information

Like most online services, we and our service providers may automatically collect IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring pages, pages viewed, timestamps, cookie identifiers, and diagnostic or security events. StatsDen also sends your IP address to IPinfo to display an approximate location on the homepage. Security and diagnostic records may be retained separately from the short-lived lookup cache.

Payment information

If we introduce paid plans, we may collect billing contact details, subscription status, and transaction records. Payment card details will be handled by the payment provider identified at checkout rather than stored by StatsDen, except where necessary to keep limited transaction records.

How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • provide, maintain, secure, and improve the Service;
  • perform and temporarily cache requested technical lookups;
  • create and administer accounts and future paid subscriptions;
  • respond to messages and provide support;
  • measure usage and diagnose errors or performance problems;
  • prevent fraud, abuse, unauthorized automation, and security incidents;
  • comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements; and
  • send service-related messages and, where permitted, marketing messages that you may opt out of.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on performance of a contract, our legitimate interests in operating and protecting the Service, compliance with law, and consent where requested.

Cookies and Analytics

StatsDen uses cookies that are necessary for sessions, authentication, security, and preferences. When enabled, Google Analytics uses cookies or similar technologies to help us understand use of the Service. Google reCAPTCHA helps protect forms from abuse and is subject to Google's privacy policy and terms. You can limit cookies through your browser, although some features may not work correctly.

How We Disclose Information

We may disclose information:

  • to DigitalOcean for application hosting and database infrastructure;
  • to Amazon Web Services for transactional email delivery;
  • to Google for Analytics and reCAPTCHA;
  • to Sentry for error, performance, and diagnostic monitoring;
  • to IPinfo for approximate IP-location information;
  • to domain registries, registrars, RDAP and WHOIS operators, DNS infrastructure, and the servers associated with a requested domain as needed to perform a lookup;
  • to professional advisers and vendors working for us under appropriate confidentiality and data-protection obligations;
  • when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, users, or the Service; or
  • in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of all or part of our business.

We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you.

Data Retention

We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above. Account information is generally retained while your account remains active and for a reasonable period afterward. Contact messages, transaction records, security logs, and diagnostic data are kept according to operational, legal, fraud-prevention, and dispute-resolution needs. Domain lookup caches ordinarily expire within a few hours. Publicly available RDAP records may be retained longer, and backups may retain information for a limited additional period before being overwritten.

International Data Transfers

CodeHill and its providers may process information in the United States and other countries whose data-protection laws may differ from those where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers, such as contractual protections.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, including the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and California, you may have the right to request access, correction, deletion, portability, or restriction of personal information; object to certain processing; withdraw consent; and appeal or complain to a data-protection authority. California residents may also request the categories and specific pieces of personal information collected, the sources and purposes of collection, and the categories of recipients.

You may exercise applicable rights through our contact form. We may need to verify your identity and authority before completing a request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right. An authorized agent may submit a request where permitted by law, subject to verification.

Children

The Service is intended only for people who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided information to us, please contact us so we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.

Third-Party Services and Links

The Service displays information obtained from and may link to third parties. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this Privacy Policy.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy here, update its effective date, and provide additional notice when required by law.
